From Animals to Zinnias: Essential Elements of a Children's Garden
The inventory of elements and features deemed essential by numerous authors initiated this discussion about what we value in a children's garden. Details concerning the importance assigned to each of 72 children's garden elements by stakeholders (like you) were investigated. Further discussion included the relative importance assigned specific elements based upon children's garden stakeholder role (children's garden visitor, educator, administrator/director, horticulturist, or designer) and some current work being conducted by other researchers.Handout , Powerpoint Presentation

What Do Kids Really Gain from gardening?
This presentation detailed the many benefits to children and youth from experiences in gardens and natural settings.  The need for research in this area was initially discussed and cited.  The overarching question explored in this research was: How does the existing body of literature inform practitioners in the field about the benefits to children from experiences in outdoor learning environments, and more specifically, the benefits to children from gardening?    Download Word , Powerpoint
